Working on 3-column layout

Dunno what resolutions y'all are running, and whether you see a lot of wasted space in this present template. I see a lot. And I don't like it. So I'm fiddling off-line with some 3-column layouts. I have a little mini-blogroll of just blogs that concentrate on humor, but I'd like to be able to show the others I regularly visit. And I have a little "game" in mind that needs some space. Three columns looks like the best way to make that happen.

Hopefully my stone-age html skills are up to the task and I can get it all done quickly.

UPDATE:
Thought I had made good progress so I switched over. Briefly. Ended up screwing it all up and went back to old layout. I'm a compulsive code whittler. I hate redundancies and meaningless comments. I probably got a little frisky with deleting stuff. Clobbered the SiteMeter for a while, too. So Nappy and Holder had a couple hours to snoop my stuff and look for secret code words and not leave a trace. Hint to Nappy and Holder: "Obama is a doofus" is not a coded phrase.

  1. I've tried to do this with your template. The problem is the background is a widget generated at Google. It's like embedding movies only the embedding is part of your template. If you switch to "Minima" Freaksmack or I can help you.

  2. I use a three-column called 'tic-tac'

  3. Good luck on the redesign. I use wordpress, so I can't say I know a thing about blogger templates.

  4. I could have sworn that "Obama is a doofus" was code for "more pizza"?

  5. Did you try the one I recommended? It worked perfectly for me, but I was starting from a clean slate. I did read comments from others that used it with existing blogs and it seemed to work fine. If I remember right, you use Rounders 3.

  6. That's one reason I moved to WP, although the theme I chose is as annoying as Blogger. I will say that if I have to whittle code, I end up with similar results to yours.

I hope Nappy and Holder got into that stink bomb you left for them.

  7. Mike, you are the awesome. That link is very helpful.

I originally downloaded a pre-built 3col Rounders, but it was annoying the way the elements were grouped. Color and font choices made to the main panel also affected the left sidebar. So I started taking it apart. Unfortunately that meant that the tools on the "fonts & colors" tab didn't recognize the new elements I created, so I was hand tagging all the colors in the sidebars. I knew when it was finally done and applied to the existing blog it would screw up all the widgets.

But the link you provided will be helpful to mod the existing template without breaking everything. Cool.

Family-friendly phrasing heartily encouraged.
