Blogger Spam feature

Blooger FINALLY turned on the new spam filter for my site.  Some of ya have had it for several days, but I just got it yesterday.  So I turned off the word verification, just to see if the spamgrabber would be enough.  BAM! just like that, an old post gets this funky comment:

In every tom's time, at some time, our inner pep goes out. It is then burst into enthusiasm by an contend with with another human being. We should all be glad quest of those people who rekindle the inner inspiration

I am very uplifted by this comment.  I have long been a fan of special-ed free verse and this pretty much makes my day.

UPDATE:  Sorry, word verification is back on.  So far, I'm not so impressed with the function of this new"feature"

  1. There are gremlins in the comment world. Twice my comment has "been unavailable." I'll give it one more shot.

I wonder who this "tom" is, of whom the commenter speaks?

I think I might have had this guy in class years ago -- the grammar is somehow familiar.

Wait, isn't this part of Obama's hope and change and lowering sea levels speech?

  3. Moogie - yeah, who is tom? is his last name morrow? 'Cuz they say that guy never dies

OG - Now that I look at it, blogger flagged it as spam but published it anyway. Maybe I need to adjust some settings.

Infidel - that is exactly barry's speech once all the "um"s and "uh"s were edited out.

  5. My inner pep has dropped, what should I do?

Then again, maybe it's just gas.

  6. Make fun all you want, but it sounds like Engrish to me. This may mean something if translated back into its original language.

You people are woefully quick to judge.

  7. Inno, as the blog administrator you will get an e-mail with the spam comment on it. But, in my early/limited experience they do not post to public content.

I have at this point had the Blogger spam filter catch over 30 spam comments. Not one of them was actually posted to the blog (even though I did get the e-mail with the content myself)...and they were all spam.

So, I'm stickin' up for The Globber.

Personally, I don't care if somebody has got WV turned on or not, but this is the first instance I've read where somebody wasn't extremely happy with the results of the new feature.

I've been following it pretty closely, and I am extremely impressed by the reports I've been reading. I'd be interested to know if the spam comment you got actually appeared, or if you just got an e-mail notification of it.

I'm studying this. I've got lots of time on my hands and figured I'd do something productive like that.

  8. Getting rid of the blogger bar helps. Spammers use it to hop from blog to blog.

  9. Red - Not yummy

Teresa - Barry and spam have lots in common

Matt - There are a lot of disappointed obama voters asking the same thing

aA - I considered that it might have been a very nice thing to say in Swahili or Tamil or Gaelic or whatever, but the comment is unrelated to the post so IT IS SPAM AND I WILL JUDGE IT HARSHLY!

Andy - I found out later that one did NOT publish, and it was pretty harmless. But the porn-link-spam one DID publish, probably because the commenter had a valid google profile. Grrr.

Trestin - Thanks for that info. Removing that toolbar will be my Project Numero Uno today. And it'll free up some space on your display to see even more of my amazingly awesome content without scrolling! Bwaahaaahaaahhaaa!
