Blogger weirdness - is it just me?

I'm a caveman that still uses Blogger's "Follow" feature. I'm getting a craplot of stuff from writers-images.blogspot.com appeaing in the right-hand pane of the "blogs I'm following"even though I've never followed them.  It appears to be random junk, much if it a couple years old and in sketchy English.  No such blog appears in the left-hand pane so I can't unfollow them.

So they've either:
1. figured out how to insert their feed into my list;
2.  Hijacked and renamed one of the legitimate blogs I follow;
or,
3. Google/Blogger is just all temporarily confunkulated.

I haven't heard of #1 being an issue but it wouldn't surprise me if somebody figured out how to do it.  Both #2 and #3 seem pretty believable to me, because the blogger help forums are all lit up with complaints right now about blogjacking and being mislabeled as a spamblog and shut down.

Anyway, if you're a Blogger user I'd recommend you do a backup.  Export a copy of your blog and save a copy of your template.  Then eat a marachino cherry while dancing the macarena counterclockwise, just to make sure.

  2. I'm also one of those 'cave men' that still use the follow feature. So far no issues, but I'll let ya know if I encounter any.

  3. amanofwonder - I figger'd that was the case but I wanted to be sure. Now you have me wanting to sing the Mr. Ed theme.

    Deb - Any second now, Andy is going to tell us to get with it and use a real reader.

  4. I don't do the blogger-follow thang and I only use my RSS reader to keep up with the hockey blogs, who tend to write about teams other than the Wings all the damned time, which is very irritating to us folks who know the ONE True Hockey Team wears the Winged Wheel on its sweater, but we digress. I visit the rest of my daily reads the old fashioned way... actually typing the url into the appropriate space. Cave man.

  5. Buck I'm flattered to think that you figger I'm worth the trouble of actually typing in the URL. (blush)

  6. I do use the Follow feature if someone follows my blog. So far the only site that I have had trouble with is that danged JS-Kit. If you subscribe to any of their comments, you get the danged blog in your feeds. I hate them, they should die in a fire while drowning from a car wreck, like my grandfather.

  7. First I've heard. I'll keep an eye out for it, though.

  8. I guess I'm just stupid I guess. I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. I use follow without a hitch. My comments used to be another story, but that's been nipped in the bud.

  9. No worries; I don't use Blogger.

    I hate them, they should die in a fire while drowning from a car wreck, like my grandfather.

    That's pretty graphic; how do you really feel, Paul?

    When I go, I hope it's peacefully, in my sleep - like my grandfather. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

  10. Okay, so this is an old post that I'm just now getting 'round to.

    I wouldn't know if I have a problem or not, because ONLY CAVEMEN use the "follow" dealie from The Globber.

    I think I have 5 or 6 blogs that I "follow." One of them is yours, because you were begging to try to whip your preacher's wife, and I always like beating up on chicks.

    I have not looked at my Dashboard in about 72 years, so I don't even know how many "followers" I have. It's probably about two.

    Get a Google Reader, Dude! Way better...much more comprehensive. Heck, I did a whole post on it back last Summer. http://andysredneckramblings.blogspot.com/2010/07/recommendation.html

    Do it. JUMP! You'll be glad you did. I've had at least four thousand readers thank me. Well, two...

  11. Cave WOMEN use Follow, too!

    No probs yet. And I have no clue how to "export my blog." sounds kinda racy.

Family-friendly phrasing heartily encouraged.
