Screwt Newt

Mr. Gingrich was on his way out of my doghouse.  He wasn't out of it, and probably would never be, 'cuz, well, I have a big doghouse.  But he at least was taking some baby steps toward the exit.

Then

This mouthfart passed 'twixt his lips:

“The party that says it's the party of the family is going to adopt an immigration policy which destroys families who have been here a quarter century.  I'm prepared to take the heat for saying, let's be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.”

Whoa.

A person who has entered our country illegally is ineligible for a SSN or other documentation that would allow them to be legally employed.  Therefore, if said person is employed, then that person must be using fraudulent or stolen documents.  If that person is not employed, then that person must be a bum who sponges off of others.  What other possibility is there?  The illegal is independently wealthy?  Yeah, right.

So this fraud and/or bum of an illegal has been sneaky enough and cunning enough and treacherous enough to be able to perpetrate this ruse for 25 years.  According to Newt, that makes this illegal a good candidate for permanent residence.  Furthermore, let's say this illegal has elected to start a family here in spite of these very uncertain circumstances - Newt says *I* am being inhumane if I want this weasel out of my country.

Know what, Newt?

Get bent.  This hypothetical illegal knew exactly what he was doing when he built his life on a big pile of shifting sand.  This same hypothetical illegal willingly subjected his family to years of uncertainty and stress and potential loss.  THAT is inhumane.  THAT must not be rewarded.

And YOU do not deserve the presidency.

  1. It's pretty danged hard to find a candidate whose positions entirely fit yours. Newt and I part ways on a couple o' thangs, Romney and I part ways on a LOT more. I'd rather see a President Newt than a President Romney, or a President-Anyone-Else on the GOP side, at the moment.

wv: percoon. Nope. Ain't gonna touch THAT one.

  2. I don't know what to say about 300+ pound men running for president. And just to be clear on the matter, I would rather not cross paths with him on anything. I'd be to afraid that things would get a bit squished.

  3. Hey at least he speaks the language of prosperity, not, repeat NOT, the language of the ghetto.

  4. Buck's right.

Newt is not my #1 guy. Or #2, or #3, #4....etc. He is the last guy on my list, truth be known. Well, maybe Ron Paul. But Newt's really down there, way down there with me.

But if he is the last guy standing, he is still better than a second term of Obama.

    Hands Down.

  5. Depressing. Lord Obama might get reelected.

  6. I'm as anti-illegal immigration as one can be. However, with our non-existent immigration policy, I think anything a person like Newt proposes, or would push, would be an improvement.

Being a former LEO from AZ, my perspective is not ‘unique’ but I believe well informed. It sounds silly to say that I can articulate anything better than Newt, but let me try to give his viewpoint some clarity…

Newt says start with border security. Right.

Newt says if you are violating the law, you must be held accountable. Right.

Newt says we can’t (physically, politically) deport everyone currently here illegally. Right.

Newt says we must remove the incentive for people to come here illegally, by enforcing laws on employers, and generally ENFORCING LAWS.

What Newt said, are a few sentences on a complex matter. Review his written “plan” (http://www.newt.org/solutions/immigration) which is founded in good principles, yet detailed enough to address problems we might have, such as you raise.

Under his plan, if a person were able to do all the things in the plan, and stay, I think everybody would agree its not amnesty, its not citizenship...and in reality - few would qualify. If you don’t comply, you are here illegally, and must leave.

The bottom line is, nobody is, or has, done anything in the right direction on this matter in a long time, and Newt acknowledges that.

  7. Wow, that was long. But I was with you on my initial reaction, until I read his plan.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  8. I respect your view Inno, but at this point I'm ready to vote for anybody with the "R" by his/her name that they finally decide on even down to Ron Paul, although that one might give me pause. I like his plan to downsize the government but his ideas on foreign policy are too strange for me. All I know is that I've had enough of this liberal/socialist Obama crap. What a turkey! Which reminds me, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  9. Happy Thanksgiving to you, yours, and your commentariat, Inno!

  10. I don't like this either, but I doubt he'll be the nominee. Who ever it is, I'll vote for him/her.

I'd vote for a piece of cat poop over obummer! We must get rid of that slimeball, no matter what, or we're done for as a Country!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Inno.
    Hope your holiday was great.

  11. Inno, I've been thinking about this post since it went up a few days ago, but just now getting around to it.

I'm willing to get behind Newt if it looks like it's gonna be a showdown between him and Mitt.

Truth is, what he'd likely propose would be more effective than what Dubya did. Which was almost nothing.

Seriously, Bush didn't really care much about it as goober of Texas, and seemingly less as President. It sure wouldn't keep me from supporting him against a lib Republican, or the destructiod we've got now.

We all know that both parties have turned a blind eye to(often with blustering rhetoric against) illegal immigration. I actually kinda respect Newt for not throwing out the same old mantras.

Either way, this subject is not going to be a deal-breaker for me with him, or any of our candidates.

Judges. Debt. Spending. Social Security reform. Military & intelligence. Those are my major concerns.

Heck, maybe it's because I live in a 'hood with a lot of folks I am pretty sure are illegals, and see their day to day lives...sure it's an issue. But, it's not high on my list.

  12. As much as I disagree with immigrants being here illegally and so on... I think Newt has a good point. I think there should be fines though, and a couple other stipulations. Then, if the illegal immigrants don't follow them kick em out of the country.

  13. Newt is globalist he does not believe in borders. Has everyone forgotten his hit on Paul Ryan?

Family-friendly phrasing heartily encouraged.
