Resistance is futile?

I am Granddaughter 4 of 4.  Resistance is futile.  Your life, as it has been, is over.
For the next 17 years or so you will service me.

The person who dives on the grenade doesn't really want to dive on the grenade, but knows that not doing so would be even worse.  A couple days ago, I dove on the grenade and joined the (unwilling, but duty-bound) ranks of Grandparents Raising Grandkids.  Their mom is in rehab, their dad is in jail, and their grandpa ain't copin' so well with it so far...  Hopefully the parents can get their **** together and things can go back to "normal" someday.

Anyway, I expect that time/opportunity/desire to post here will be much curtailed.  Adjust your clicks accordingly.

  3. I hope not to much "curtailing" goes on in the House of Inno. Hey man, as the great Plato said, "Use those around you, even those who cause you endless frustrations, for you own gain." It was either Plato or the hack down the street. That guy still owes me a chainsaw.

  7. "Whose woods these are I think I know.
    His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

"My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

"He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

And miles to go, before you sleep.

Giving is a special gift. Not toys. Not alms. Not causes. But, giving to let a life live. Some special life you choose to help. Not because it's required, but because of the hope that this once, this special time, an additional effort can effect a change that any earlier effort failed at achieving. It is selfless, since it exists in the former case of not succeeding. Having once been denied, attempting to achieve that which was earlier denied isn't a fruitless pursuit, it is the attempt to prove that the pursuit was worthwhile. It isn't always ones own fault that success wasn't achieved. But one can think, one can persuade, one can carry one to an higher degree.

Finally, one can choose. Either to attempt yet again to succeed or, simply shrug ones shoulders and accept defeat.

Whose woods are these? They are your woods. And you've miles to go. Unless, you choose to sleep. God keep you on your journey.

"May the Lord bless you and keep you: May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."

What is your life without challenge?

    Keep on truckin', Dad.

  8. Hmm. I know I already commented but maybe this little nugget will improve your mood:

You put the boom-boom into my heart
You send my soul sky high when your lovin' starts
    Jitterbug into my brain
Goes a bang-bang-bang 'til my feet do the same
    But something's bugging you
    Something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleepin' in my bed
I was dreaming, but I should have been with you instead.

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
    Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah)

You take the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

'Cause you're my lady, I'm your fool
It makes me crazy when you act so cruel
Come on, baby, let's not fight
We'll go dancing, everything will be all right

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin'' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
    Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah, baby)

    (Jitterbug)
    (Jitterbug)

Cuddle up, baby, move in tight
    We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there, but it's warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead

    (Jitterbug)

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
    Take me dancing tonight
Wake me up before you go-go, don't you dare to leave me hanging on like a
    yo-yo
    Take me dancing

    (Boom-boom-boom)

  10. It's a labor of love my friend. The lessons you impart in this time will last them a lifetime. I know it's tough, I've been there though under different circumstances, but with all you've done I know you will conquer this too. Hang in there. Lu and I will keep you, your wife and your daughter in our thoughts and prayers.

  11. You're a good man, Inno. My best thoughts for your daughter.

    Strength.

  12. Well that sucks. Except for the fact that you now have an opportunity to exert some positive influence on a young and malleable life that has, from the look of things, been often devoid of that.

That may be a challenge, but I can think of worse ones to take on.
